For the first year of Daniel's life, Crystal kept a journal of items that happened, weight, height and such. We found it while going through our closet this evening and sat down to read it. It was surreal looking back on the first year of his life. Daniel thought it was really cool. At one point he read the fact that he "discovered his feet" and replied, "What?! Where did I think my feet were? Was I some kind of loser back then or what? Everyone has feet. Gawd!". I laughed so hard I was in tears.

I decided to share a bit of the information here for my friends and family to see. These are just a few details from each day's entry.

So, here's a quick run down of our little man's first year. There's also some photos from this time period over on Flickr.

Steven's entry: Daniel has figured out who I am. When I come home he smiles and shakes when he sees me. When I leave in the morning he wakes up and smiles at me. When I get home from work he chews on the bill of my cap. Daniel is so beautiful. I love him so much!

Daniel has six teeth now. He has also learned to spit and makes toot sounds on everything with his lips. We put the full-size bed and queen-size bed both in our bedroom and pushed them together. He bounces from one side to the other. Daniel crawls up to the window and shakes the blinds. When I come behind him and say "what are you doing?" he giggles uncontrollably.
(9 months) October 3, 2000
Daniel can stand on his own. He watches Teletubbies. By watching them he has learned to wave and say "bye-bye". He jabbers all day long.
(10 months) October 23, 2000
Daniel took two steps today! He was trying to reach for his big bouncy ball and took two steps forward. He was as shocked as I was.

Daniel has been walking for two weeks now. He is eating table food now.
(1 year) January 21, 2001
Weighs 21lbs. Daniel started daycare for the first time. He eats like a pig and runs all over the place. He is very independent and likes to roam around on his own. He even wants to throw away his own diapers...and sippy cups, and toys, and everything else.
